How to Wrap a Present

The holidays may be over but that doesn't mean we won't have other occasions we need to wrap gifts for! If you feel like you just "don't know how to wrap a present" or you've always struggled with tying the perfect bow, then this is the blog for you. We're going to step by step take you through wrapping that perfect gift.

PS: Don't mind the holiday paper in the below pictures if you're not wrapping a holiday gift! Just substitute with the paper of your choice for whatever holiday you're celebrating

What you need:

- wrapping paper of choice

- tape

- scissors

- ribbon

Step 1: Unroll the wrapping paper

Roll out your wrapping paper (colourful side down) and measure the amount of wrapping paper you will need. To do this, place your box face down on your rolled out paper. You will need enough paper so that the halves of the paper meet in the middle and slightly overlap.

Once you have enough paper, cut the paper from the roll.

Step 2: Tape the paper in the centre

Using a small piece of tape, tape the left side of your wrapping paper down on to your box. Take the right side of your paper and fold it over to meet the left side. Fold over the excess paper to create a straight edge and then tape it down.

While you are doing this, make sure to keep the paper as tight to the box as possible.

Tip: You only need a small piece of tape to keep the paper down.

Step 3: Folding the Edges

Two sides of the box will still have unfolded paper sticking out.

Fold down top half of the paper so it's flush against the box.

Crease the sides to form two wings.

Fold in the first wing, creasing as you go.

Make sure you fold in the the bottom part of the wing so that it forms a triangle.

Repeat on the other side. Fold in the second wing, crossing over the first and creasing along the bottom edge of box.

You now have a bottom triangle! Fold that up, and the finished product should look kind of like an envelope.

Repeat steps above on the other side.

Step 4: Add the Ribbon

These next few gifts will show you how to make the perfect box. Lay your gift face down.

Place ribbon underneath your gift, directly in the middle. Pull the ribbon on either side, making the ribbon even by matching the edges at top of the gift

Step 5: Fold your ribbon over

Take your left side of your ribbon and your right side, and fold them on top of each other.

Step 6: Cross your ribbon

Once the two sides are over each other, take your two sides and cross them over each other, so that your left ribbon is at the top of your gift and your right ribbon is towards the bottom.

Step 7: Flip your gift over

Once your ribbons are crossed, pull them tightly together. Flip your gift over carefully.

Step 8: Cross your ribbon again

Similar to what we did on the bottom of the gift, you are going to lay the two ends of your ribbon on top of each other.

Step 9: Twist the pieces over each other

Take one side of the ribbon and pull it underneath the other side. Pull and tighten so that they have crossed in the centre of the gift.

Step 10: Create a loop

With one side of the ribbon, create a loop or "bunny ear."

Step 11: Create a second loop

Take the other side of your ribbon and bring it overtop the loop.

Pull the ribbon through the space to create a second loop or "Bunny Ear."

Step 12: Tighten

Pull the two loops to tighten them and form the shape of your bow.

Step 13: Cut access ribbon

Use your scissors to cut any excess ribbon and make your two sides match in length.

Voila! You just made the perfect gift
